SYNOPSIS

Lisa Callaghan is coming back from the brink of alcoholic madness and seems to be making a full recovery. But deep down she is battling the demon called Reality, a multifaceted beast that seems to tear at the very core of her being. When a vicious serial killer begins his deadly reign of terror as Lisa is second in charge of Boston Homicide, she is put in charge of the investigation. But as she delves deeper into the shadowy world of the slasher her world begins to unravel. Partnered with a fresh-faced detective, Luke Farmer she finds herself irresistibly drawn to his boyish nature but still trapped by memories of the nightmarish relationship she shared with FBI Agent Jack Tanner, who is also assigned to the case. Luke is younger than her and rekindles memories of a time before innocence was lost. Jack Tanner is her darker past and she can't help but be attracted to his cowboy nature.
Together these three will be sucked into the shape shifting world of the Boston Slasher as he races to complete his sinister masterpiece. Lisa must fight to take back the life alcohol stole from her as well as sort through the cryptic clues left at the murder scenes. Her inner monologue combined with conversations with her sponsor, Abby, bring a touch of humanity to what is a dark story of primitive savagery. The healthy doses of humour sprinkled throughout the story lift it beyond the atypical serial killer genre.
Caught between the past and an unimagined future, Lisa must confront her own demons if she is to defeat this monster, as it soon becomes apparent that his passion for cold blooded murder is matched only by his obsession for her. Her own past unravels before her and she must face up to the past before she can embrace the future.
Obsession, lust, desire and fear coalesce in the shadows to reveal a shocking truth. Who is hunting whom?
