Characters.Lisa Callaghan: Lisa is a thirty something detective assigned to Boston Homicide. She has been a cop for many years but in spite of being confronted with shocking crimes, she isn't the type to become easily jaded. She cares about her work, and it shows in her arrest record. Lisa is also a recovering alcoholic and after twelve months of recovery is beginning to realise that putting down the bottle is only part of the battle, the hardest fight is the internal one between her ears. Luke Farmer: Luke is a few years younger than Lisa and was part of Internal Affairs. Now assigned to Homicide he finds he is fighting the normal prejudices against the cop's cop as well as fighting his growing attraction for Lisa. Jack Tanner: FBI agent Tanner is a dark knight and I apologise to the FBI for my portrayal of Jack, it's a stereotype I inherited from numerous movies and books. Jack was once Lisa's lover but after a particularly violent fight they broke up. Jack became a stalker for a while until the intervention order but when the Slasher begins his deadly reign of terror he becomes a part of the investigation. I felt it necessary to create a dark hero to coexist with the lighter Farmer, in order to fight evil we must become like evil. I thought Jack was one of the more interesting characters, a true rival for Lisa's affections. Tom O'Reilly: He was another stereotype I picked up along the way. He runs Boston Homicide and is a father figure for the department as well as Lisa's unofficial dad. She would never admit it to him but she loves him, it was Tom who rescued her from alcoholic oblivion. A tough man he has a gentler side that shows in his listening ear and intuitive heart. Abby: Now Abby is Lisa's sponsor, soulmate and chief advisor, it is to Abby that Lisa turns whenever she needs advice or someone to scream out. Abby seems to weather it all quite calmly although she won't put up with crap and emotional blackmail. Their relationship is very much big sister/little sister and it served as a useful sounding board for times Lisa questioned herself and her motives. Brad: He was the boyfriend of the first murder victim and I dropped him in unexpectedly. He was supposed to disappear into obscurity but his youthful innocence meant he could break up the dark overtones. His apparent hero worship of Angie meant he had to stay in the end. Angie: She is a part of Homicide although she works as a researcher. Not sure if that's actually correct for a fully functioning police department but I needed a studious intellectual type and so I took liberties! Ray: A detective with Boston Homicide, he's more the stable type who looks forward to retirement but still enjoys his job, that's if you can call looking at dead bodies enjoyable. Danny: He's similar to Ray, I needed tough detectives in this department. Ramon: A sexy Latino detective, he was needed to inject a little sex appeal. Ramirez: He was also brought in to help sex the department up. Gina: Oh she was inspired by a Latino cop in Predator 2, very tough and yeah, she's gay. Rudy: Every police department has to have at least one drunken fool and Rudy was a perfect drunk! Other characters to be added later on. Cheers, Alastair
