Who is Alastair Rosie?A good question and one I never stop asking myself. Officially I was born in Stirling, Scotland and moved to Australia in 1964 with my parents, I always say I was transported! I lived and worked there for many years before finally returning to Scotland, they say I'm mad and they're probably right.I have been writing for many years but only really got serious when my father was dying, I guess it became like a therapy for me and so I started writing myself into fictional worlds, hey the real world didn't look so nice. My first published piece was an essay on the movie Nell starring Jodie Foster. It was accepted by the Australian Jodie Foster website, the site is now defunct but it provided me with my first publishing opportunity. I became the writer in residence for the site and my duties included writing essays, we decided on essays rather than reviews, biographical information, letters to fans and other writing tasks. We weren't in any way connected to Jodie Foster however, just fans talking to fans. About this time I wrote my first novel, Heritage Restored, which is available as a free download (PDF). I was also the production editor for Divan, an online poetry journal, I'm not a poet but it was a fun venture. I also dabbled in travel journalism and other types of writing before finally writing The Boston Slasher. Since 2001 however my writing fortunes have ebbed and flowed ceaselessly, some years I seem to be prolific and other years it seems like I can't string a sentence together. But that's writing for you, 90% hard work and 10% inspiration. I will probably do a sequel to The Boston Slasher because I feel there are loose strings that need to be tied. Well I don't know if that tells you much about me, I've left a lot of stuff out because that would take a novel. Cheers, Alastair
