Who
Am I?
Resume

It must be the
question that has plagued the human race for thousands of years!
But seriously, I was born in Scotland in a place called Stirling, which
to the rest of the world is known as the place where William Wallace
defeated the English in 1297 at the battle of Stirling Bridge, Robert
the Bruce would finish the job at the battle of Bannockburn a few years
later.
I left Scotland for Australia when I was just a wee lad of fifteen
months and spent the next thirty-nine years downunder. I can't say life
was bad in Australia but it wasn't all good. I've found upon my return
to Scotland that Australia is regarded as a paradise where all the
girls wear bikinis and all the guys look like Kylie Minogue, or is that
Mel Gibson? Anyway, I worked in a variety of different jobs before
returning to college in 1997.
I had been away from school for over twenty years probably because I
was always getting bullied by teachers at school. I've contemplated
sueing the Education Department in Victoria for cruel and inhumane
punishment but they're broke so there.
Nevertheless, I enrolled at Box Hill TAFE in 1997 and spent two years
learning how to write like a professional. I graduated with a Diploma
of Arts in Professional Writing and Editing, so now i can spel good
okay?
Whilst at college I assisted with setting up the department's home page
which has now gone and helped launched the first issue of Divan,
Australian's first all-Australian online poetry journal.
After college I dithered with my old job in binding before launching my
part time writing business. Sadly it didn't work out so well, I had too
many distractions and not enough time to work but I learned a great
deal about setting yourself up in business and in true Aussie style
have taken it in my stride and moved on determined to learn by my
mistakes.
In 2003 I decided to move to the other side of the world and arrived in
Scotland where I have put down my roots. I am currently working in
retail, which is about as exciting as watching the grass grow.
I have however relaunched my old business in writing and I guess you
learn to take things a little easier. The old passion is still there
however and I hope to make something out of my writing, even if it's
just a few more awards.
And who am I really?
Now that's a secret!
